Millets were once an essential part of the cuisine in Bastar, as evidenced by many traditional dishes, songs, and stories about them. However, in recent decades, the area under millet cultivation has declined significantly in the region. To revive the traditional and glorious legacy of millets, the District Administration of Sukma, Chhattisgarh, is working intensively to increase the area under millet cultivation and revive its consumption practices. Apna Khet is a digital intervention that is helping to strengthen this effort. Apna Khet is an online monitoring tool that was developed by the District Administration in collaboration with all relevant departments and TRIF. It tracks the millet mission from pre-sowing training to post-harvest market linkages. Each step is captured by a multi-departmental team on the ground, providing in-depth status of the millet mission at every stage.
